First Harvest!

May 28, 2008

Here’s a shot of my first harvest from the garden:

From top left to right is Tendergreen Mustard Green, Red Deer Tongue Lettuce and a lone Mizuna Mustard Green.  From bottom left to right is a lone Black Seeded Simpson lettuce and two piles of some mystery loose-leaf lettuce.

They were pretty tasty on my ham and swiss last night!

Yum — there’s nothing like fresh-from-the-garden! Well done!

  2. Fresh leafy greens are the best!

    Kathy,
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. Been busy this week, so I don’t think I’ll be able to get downtown. Maybe next week? Or else I’ll have try those tomatoes next year.
I finally talked to my friend about the tulips. She couldn’t tell me exactly where to go, but she tried to describe it. Off Prince of Wales, just past the botanical gardens, on the left hand side. From that description, sounds like the Fletcher gardens? But she said just to ask anyone there that you see and they should be able to tell you. They are free for the taking, and I think they are all pretty much dug up by now. I hope this helps and you get some. If I get a chance, I may try to go, perhaps on Sunday, if the weather is nice, and if I find them, (if you haven’t already) I’ll let you know!
I’m going to have one last plant sale on Saturday, but of course it’s supposed to rain! Good luck with yours!
    Sam.
