Seed Orders Coming In

February 3, 2009

Oh man, I love this time of year! My seed orders have started to come in and I’m super hyped about this year’s growing season. Yesterday I got my seed order from Johnny’s Selected Seeds that I ordered on January 21, 2009:

What a big box!  What did I order from there again?  Oh yeah, Golden beets, Atomic Red carrots and Purple Rain carrots for my Mom and two sets of Clean-a-Screen meshes for my Dad’s American Harvester dryer.

That’s pretty quick for regular shipping – just 12 days in total.

And then my seed order from Wild Boar Farms came in today.  I mailed my US dollars on January 16, 2009 and it only took just over three weeks!

I’ve now got Brad’s Black Heart, Evan’s Purple Pear, Haley’s Purple Comet, Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye, Berkeley Tie-Dye with a packet of Red Boar thrown in!  I’m pretty excited about these tomatoes as the main focus of Brad’s exotic tomato breeding is on “bi-color and striped varieties with extreme flavor and fascinating looks”.

Next up will be my order from William Dam Seeds (ordered January 19th, 2009), Tatiana’s TOMATObase (January 29th, 2009) and Casey’s Heirloom Tomatoes (January 29, 2009).  It’s funny, I had decided late last year that I would reserve myself to buying only 5 – 8 new tomato varieties.  After looking through my current packets of tomato seeds, I decided to ditch about 10 or 12 of them in favour of new, more exciting varieties.  By my tomato math, that leaves me free to buy almost 20 new varieties!

Come on spring!

Oh my, your lucky to be trying all those wild boar varieties. They have some amazing looking tomatoes.

I am suppose to be receiving Pink Berkeley Tie-Dye in a seed trade but I am not sure if it is going to work out. Are you up for a trade if the seeds never arrive? I am located in Ontario and have lots of different heirloom tomato seeds.

  2. Well, I will look forward to watching all these things grow!

    Hi Kathy
Received the seeds today, thank-you very much 🙂
